This is of course, a legendary recording, as Deb Trist put it "It's like a you-were-there experience" (or something like that). Five stars for Jerry's voice and the clarity of the sound. I was 18, it was my second Dead show, the Hollywood Palladium an Art Deco palace. Laugh long and hard. If anyone has a copy of this, if you could contact me at bravesirrobin12@, god smiles on the dead, and deadheads too, with all the filth and perversion on the internet, this site is beautiful and kinda balances out the karma of the other shit that pervades cyberspace. The Hard to Handle is unbelievable. People who expended huge amounts of time, energy and money taping ,trading and following the band. If i'm not mistaken, this show has the legendary Hard To Handle that appears on Fallout.....my Deadhead's Taper Compendium claims that Jerry fell to his knees during the peak of the jam...FAR OUT or what?? This tape runs about a quarter-tone fast, as others have noted (see below). Short feedback trouble in Lovelight while Pigpen works his magic with the crowd, but a minor problem in comparison to the rest of the show. Nothing at all like the drug-addled, percussive, mailed-in chord banging of 78. It is also fun getting this great of a recording while capturing the excitement of the audience. Just like I like my ladies, lol. This is the recording that embarked me on a quest for more GD audience recordings that kick a$$. To those that hate the hwo-hwo guy hey I can,t blame him. Though 24/192 can't be right on the speed being half step fast that would make Playing in the Band way too slow to start with, all in all one of the best aud recordings ever. It doesn't get any better than this folks... For those of you who choose to devise a way around the streaming limitation to rip this music and then share your tactics with others: I have had this a piece of this show on tape for some time and now am lucky enough to hear the entire show...including a BLAZIN' other one!! the hard to handle is the jam they say. this has to be one of my favorite shows. Download it today, you won't be disappointed! It was the group's first album to be certified gold by the RIAA and remained their best seller until surpassed by Skeletons from the Closet. Everything below about sound quality is accurate- this sounds great. Now that a soundboard of at least part of this show is going to be released (just discovered by Donna Jean) hopefully we'll get to hear at least part of 8/6/71 in proper pitch. On this day in 1971 at the Fillmore East in New York, Grateful Dead would welcome pop-rock behemoths The Beach Boys to the stage for a special jam session. Crisp clear, and filled with love!!
